Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off four new Vande Bharat Express trains from Banaras Railway Station on Saturday, marking another milestone in India’s modern rail revolution. The newly inaugurated semi-high-speed trains will operate on the Banaras–Khajuraho, Lucknow–Saharanpur, Firozpur–Delhi, and Ernakulam–Bengaluru routes, enhancing connectivity across key regions of the country.
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally flagged off the Banaras–Khajuraho Vande Bharat Express and launched the other three routes virtually. Accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and other senior officials, PM Modi highlighted how the new trains symbolize India’s journey towards modernization, improved mobility, and economic growth.
A New Era of Connectivity and Comfort
Speaking at the event, PM Narendra Modi emphasized that the new Vande Bharat trains are not just a mode of travel but an integral part of India’s infrastructure transformation.
“These trains will enhance regional connectivity, reduce travel time, promote tourism, and boost economic activity,” the Prime Minister said. “Every new route of Vande Bharat connects people, businesses, and opportunities — and reflects the aspirations of a modern India.”

“With so many Vande Bharat trains running and international flights arriving, India’s growth story is moving forward rapidly. We are not just building trains; we are building the future of mobility,” PM Modi remarked.

Highlighting the development of pilgrimage destinations, PM Narendra Modi said that Uttar Pradesh’s transformation in the past decade has made it a center of spirituality and tourism.
“Pilgrimage sites like Varanasi, Ayodhya, and Prayagraj are not only spiritual hubs but also key contributors to the state’s economy,” he said. “Our goal is to ensure that every devotee who visits Kashi has a memorable and comfortable experience.”
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath praised the initiative, stating that the new trains represent the fusion of cultural heritage and modern progress. “Under the leadership of the Prime Minister, Uttar Pradesh is entering a new era of high-speed connectivity, tourism growth, and economic development,” he added.
