Prime Minister Narendra Modi vowed from Bhutan that those behind the Delhi Red Fort blast “will not be spared.” Nine killed, 20 injured as a car exploded near Red Fort; links found to a JeM-backed terror module.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has vowed that those behind the powerful blast near Delhi’s Red Fort “will not be spared,” promising a swift and decisive investigation into the deadly attack that killed nine people and injured over 20 others.
PM Modi’s Stern Warning From Bhutan
Speaking during his two-day visit to Bhutan, PM Modi said the horrific incident in the national capital has deeply pained the entire nation.
“I have come here with a heavy heart. The horrific incident that occurred in Delhi yesterday evening has saddened everyone. I understand the grief of the affected families. The entire nation stands with them,” he said.
The Prime Minister added that he was in continuous touch with investigating agencies throughout the night and assured that the government will reach “the root of the conspiracy.”
“Our agencies will get to the bottom of this conspiracy. The conspirators behind this will not be spared,” he declared in Hindi, later reiterating in English: “All those responsible will be brought to justice.”
Blast Near Red Fort: What Happened
The explosion occurred around 6:52 PM near the Red Fort Metro Station on Monday evening. A white Hyundai i20 car exploded while moving slowly at a traffic signal, killing nine people instantly and leaving over 20 others injured.
The intensity of the blast was so high that several nearby vehicles were damaged, and debris was scattered across one of Delhi’s busiest zones.
Investigators have identified Umar Mohammad, a resident of Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir, as the car’s owner and suspected driver. Sources said Umar, a doctor by profession, had links to the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror outfit through a radicalized doctors’ group on Telegram.
Link to “White-Collar” Terror Network
Just hours before the Delhi blast, Haryana Police in Faridabad had seized 2,900 kg of explosives — including ammonium nitrate, potassium nitrate, and sulphur — from two rented rooms belonging to Dr. Muzammil Shakeel, a Kashmiri doctor.
Shakeel, along with Dr. Adeel Ahmad Rather and six others, was arrested for being part of a “white-collar terror module” allegedly connected to Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGH).
Sources now confirm that Umar Mohammad was also linked to this network, suggesting that the Red Fort explosion could be part of a larger, coordinated terror plot.
“Operation Sindoor” Still Active
Government sources revealed that Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7 after a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, remains active.
“Any act of terror will be treated as an act of war against India. Operation Sindoor is on,” government officials stated.
Under Operation Sindoor, Indian security forces struck multiple terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), eliminating over 100 militants. Following these strikes, Pakistan attempted retaliatory missile and drone attacks, which were successfully intercepted by Indian defenses.
PM Modi’s Consistent Stand Against Terrorism
This is not the first time PM Modi has issued a tough warning to terrorists. After the Pahalgam attack earlier this year, he vowed that India would “identify, track, and punish” every terrorist and their backers.
“From the soil of Bihar, I tell the world — India will identify, track, and punish every terrorist and their handlers,” he had said.
PM Modi reaffirmed that India’s resolve against terrorism is unbreakable and that no conspirator will escape justice.
