CM Mohan Yadav Directs Timely Completion of All Irrigation Projects

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that Madhya Pradesh is once again set to create history, as Harda district is rapidly moving toward becoming the state’s first fully irrigated district. The Shaheed Ilap Singh Micro Lift Irrigation Project, which is under progress in Harda district, will play a pivotal role in this achievement.

With an estimated cost of ₹756.76 crore, this project will provide permanent irrigation facilities over 39,976 hectares of land in Harda district. More than 42 percent of the work has already been completed in the past sixteen months. Once operational, the project will ensure the availability of water for rabi crops up to the tail-end areas of the Tawa Irrigation Project, thereby benefiting all those farmers who were previously deprived of irrigation facilities due to lack of any project in their command areas. The Chief Minister said that after completion of this project, Harda will become the first 100% irrigated district in Madhya Pradesh. He stated that bringing one crore hectares of cultivable land in the state under irrigation is a key target, and the government is moving ahead in a planned and phased manner to achieve it.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav was addressing the 268th meeting of the Narmada Valley Development Authority, the 85th meeting of the Narmada Control Board, and the 33rd meeting of the Governing Board of Narmada Basin Projects Company Limited held at Mantralaya on Monday. The meeting approved all project proposals and related provisions submitted by the Authority and the Board.

Focus on Timely Completion and Financial Coordination

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav reviewed the status of ongoing micro, minor, medium, and major irrigation projects and water conservation structures across the state. He instructed departmental officers to ensure that all ongoing projects are completed strictly within their stipulated timeframes, with no extensions granted.

CM Dr. Mohan Yadav directed that for projects being executed by the Narmada Basin Projects Company Limited, the department should maintain close coordination with Asian and international financial institutions to meet funding requirements.
