Bihar CM Nitish Kumar visits JD(U) war room as second phase voting begins, monitors election strategy, and addresses rumors ahead of crucial assembly polls 2025.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday made a strong statement of leadership and determination by visiting the JD(U) war room in Patna as the state went to the polls for the second phase of assembly elections. The JD(U) president, who has a long tenure in Bihar politics, personally oversaw preparations and strategized for the ongoing polls, signaling his active involvement despite recent rumors about his health.
Kumar, 75, arrived at the party office shortly after meeting Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh ‘Lalan’, a trusted ally, reflecting his hands-on approach during crucial election moments. His visit comes amid reports that JD(U) is poised for a much stronger performance compared to the 2020 assembly elections, where the party’s tally had dropped sharply to 43 seats—a decline of over 25 seats attributed largely to the rebellion of the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) under Chirag Paswan.
In a notable political development, the LJP (now Lok Janshakti Party Ram Vilas) has returned as a junior NDA ally, contesting seats alongside JD(U). The BJP, which had outperformed JD(U) in 2020, has agreed to an equitable seat-sharing arrangement, with both parties contesting 101 of the 243 assembly constituencies. Analysts suggest this collaborative strategy may strengthen NDA’s position in Bihar.

Observing trends from the first phase, a high turnout of women voters is being noted again in the second phase, potentially favoring Kumar. His welfare initiatives and pro-women policies have reportedly contributed to his strong popularity among female voters.
JD(U) national spokesperson Rajeev Ranjan Prasad criticized rumors circulating on social media regarding alleged clandestine meetings between Kumar and RJD leaders. “These false narratives are being spread to create confusion among voters and reflect the opposition’s desperation,” Prasad said. He urged the electorate to participate actively in the second phase and counter opposition mischief with strong voter turnout.
Kumar’s brisk presence at the war room, accompanied by close cabinet colleague Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, reinforced the CM’s image as a decisive and energetic leader. Political observers note that his personal engagement in the electoral process may have a significant impact on JD(U)’s overall performance this election cycle.
With both the JD(U) and BJP contesting vigorously under the NDA banner, Bihar’s second-phase polling is shaping up as a crucial determinant in the state’s political landscape.
