Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday emphasized the phased development of Sambhal, highlighting the restoration of the district’s ancient pilgrimage sites and traditional wells as a key priority. The directive came during a high-level review meeting at his official residence, where officials were briefed on ongoing development projects and the law-and-order situation in the district.
In the first phase, the Chief Minister instructed officials to restore Sambhal’s 68 pilgrimage sites and 19 historic wells, ensuring preservation of the district’s rich cultural and religious heritage. The second phase will focus on developing a museum along with advanced light-and-sound facilities to boost tourism and educational value.
Infrastructure and Administrative Development
CM Yogi Adityanath also directed the fast-tracking of essential infrastructure projects, including the construction of a district court, a new jail, and a PAC unit in Sambhal. Officials were instructed to prepare detailed project reports (DPRs) and expedite land acquisition for both residential and non-residential buildings, with 93% of the required land already acquired.

He urged the local administration to accelerate road construction, public amenities, and integrated departmental office complexes, ensuring smooth governance and better citizen services. Special attention was called for areas near major pilgrimage sites along the 24 Kosi Parikrama route.
Focus on River Revival and Environmental Projects
During the review, the Chief Minister underscored the importance of conserving rivers, describing them as lifelines of the state. He instructed officials to fast-track the Mahishmati River revival project under the Namami Gange initiative, ensuring timely restoration and ecological balance.
Urban Development and Waste Management Initiatives
CM Yogi also reviewed several urban and social development schemes, including the Vandan Yojana, Mukhyamantri Vaishwik Nagarodaya Yojana, Urban Water Development Scheme, Funeral Site Development Scheme, Lake/Pokhara/Talaab Scheme, and the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Urban Development Scheme. He called for speedy completion of all ongoing projects.
Additionally, Yogi directed officials to accelerate the construction of a Compressed Biogas (CBG) plant in Sambhal to convert organic waste into sustainable energy, aligning with the state’s environmental and clean energy goals.
The Chief Minister reiterated that Sambhal’s development is a top priority for the government, combining heritage conservation, tourism enhancement, modern infrastructure, and sustainable urban planning to make the district a model for balanced growth.
