Uttarakhand to develop spiritual villages in every block under CM Pushkar Singh Dhami’s pilot project initiative. Focus on yoga, Ayurveda, meditation, Vibrant Village program, tourism development, GI tag products, and infrastructure improvements.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced that a spiritual village will be developed in every block of the state. He has instructed officials to select pilot projects to implement this initiative, aimed at establishing Uttarakhand as a global spiritual capital.
During a virtual meeting with district magistrates and senior officials on Monday, CM Dhami emphasized expanding yoga, Ayurveda, and meditation centers at the district and block levels. This initiative is expected to enhance the state’s reputation in tourism and healthcare.
Under the “One District, One Fair” campaign, selected fairs will be recognized as state-level events, receiving special support, financial assistance, and promotion. While organizers will continue managing these fairs, the state government will provide necessary assistance to boost local economies.
Focus on Vibrant Village Program and Border Areas
The Chief Minister also directed that villages identified under the Vibrant Village program should focus on homestays, self-employment, horticulture, agriculture, and solar energy activities. Border villages will be developed as tourism hubs to attract both domestic and international visitors.
Preparations for the winter Char Dham Yatra and year-round tourism will be accelerated. Coordination will be established with hotels, homestay operators, and other service providers in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, and Rudraprayag districts. The Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN) and Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN) have been asked to introduce special discount packages for travelers during the winter season.
CM Dhami further instructed officials to survey areas like Dronagiri in Almora’s Dwarahat region and Shyamlatal-Devidhura in Champawat to explore the potential of creating spiritual economic zones.

Strengthening Security and Monitoring Systems
CM Dhami instructed district-level verification and inspection campaigns to strengthen national and internal security. He emphasized special surveillance in border areas and enhanced security at major tourist sites. CCTV coverage in sensitive areas and cities will be expanded with real-time monitoring. Additional human resources, technology, and other resources will be proposed to the state headquarters as required. Dedicated teams will be established under DGP guidance to combat drug abuse in high-risk areas.
Road Infrastructure and Quality Improvements
The Chief Minister issued strict instructions to make all roads in the state pothole-free, prioritizing repair of damaged roads while ensuring high-quality construction. Areas with recurring road damage complaints will receive special attention. CM Dhami also ordered verification of permanent resident certificates issued over the last three years and strict action against those involved in fraudulent certificate issuance.
This comprehensive initiative aims to strengthen Uttarakhand’s identity as a spiritual and tourism hub while improving infrastructure, security, and local economic growth.
