Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep sorrow over the loss, highlighting Patil’s experience as an MLA, MP, Union Minister, and Speaker of both the Maharashtra Assembly and Lok Sabha. “Shivraj Patil Ji was passionate about serving society and contributing to public welfare. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge remembered Patil as a “statesman of great dignity” who upheld democratic values with integrity. Kharge remarked, “His demise is a profound loss for the Congress Party and for everyone who admired his commitment to public service.”

Former Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, a close associate of Patil for over four decades, described him as “honest, soft-spoken, and deeply dignified.” Azad called his passing an “immense loss” for those who knew him personally.

Regional leaders also expressed grief. Former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy described Patil as a “seasoned and dignified public figure” whose dedication to serving the people spanned several constitutional roles.
