Delhi Government distributes ₹25.25 crore scholarships to 1,709 meritorious students under the Higher and Technical Education Assistance Scheme, boosting youth education and clearing pending payments.
The Delhi Government has disbursed scholarships worth ₹25.25 crore to 1,709 meritorious students as part of its commitment to strengthening higher and technical education. The scholarship distribution took place at Thyagaraj Stadium on the occasion of Swami Vivekananda Jayanti, with Chief Minister Rekha Gupta leading the ceremony.
The financial assistance was provided under the Delhi Higher and Technical Education Assistance Scheme, aimed at supporting economically weaker yet academically bright students pursuing education in various universities across the capital. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister described the initiative as a direct investment in the future of the youth and the long-term growth of Delhi.
CM Gupta stated that empowering students through education is one of the government’s top priorities. She emphasized that scholarships help remove financial barriers and allow talented students to focus on their studies without economic stress. According to official figures, the scholarship amount was transferred directly to students’ bank accounts for the academic years 2023–24 and 2024–25.

In a significant move, the government also cleared ₹19 crore worth of pending scholarship payments that had remained unsettled during the previous administration. The Chief Minister assured students and parents that no sanctioned educational funds would remain delayed going forward.
On the occasion of National Youth Day, CM Gupta urged students to draw inspiration from the teachings and philosophy of Swami Vivekananda, highlighting the importance of discipline, self-belief, and national responsibility in shaping young minds.
Education Minister Ashish Sood echoed similar views, stating that the government’s approach focuses on solving problems rather than ignoring them. He pointed to major infrastructure developments in the education sector, including the expansion of the Narela Education City project, whose budget has been increased from ₹500 crore to ₹1,300 crore.
The upcoming education hub will span nearly 160 acres and feature shared university campuses, international-standard academic facilities, auditoriums, libraries, digital libraries, and ICT laboratories. The long-pending project has now gained momentum under the current leadership, with the aim of creating a world-class learning ecosystem in Delhi.
Officials believe that sustained investment in education will enable Delhi to nurture skilled leaders and contribute significantly to India’s knowledge economy. The scholarship initiative reflects the government’s broader vision to promote inclusive growth, academic excellence, and youth empowerment.
