UP CM Yogi Adityanath urges youth to fight drug abuse, protect the environment, and lead nation-building during Vivekananda Youth Awards 2026.
On the occasion of National Youth Day and Swami Vivekananda’s 163rd birth anniversary, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted the vital role of youth in nation-building and urged young citizens to take an active stance against drug trafficking. The event, themed “Youth Talent Recognition and Role in Nation-Building,” was held at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Lucknow.
CM Yogi Adityanath: “No Curfews, No Riots, All is Well in UP”
Addressing the audience, CM Yogi Adityanath stated that Uttar Pradesh is now free from curfews and riots, emphasizing peace, order, and prosperity across the state. He encouraged youth to contribute to societal welfare, environmental protection, and the fight against drug abuse. “Young people should lead efforts in villages and blocks to curb narcotics,” he added, stressing the importance of reporting illegal activities for decisive government action.
National Youth Day Celebrations and Awards
During the program, key dignitaries, including Youth Welfare and Sports Minister Girish Yadav and Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak, spoke about the inspirational life of Swami Vivekananda. CM Yogi Adityanath emphasized Vivekananda’s teachings on discipline, focus, and determination, urging youth to adopt these principles to strengthen the state and nation.
Deputy CM Pathak noted that youth are the country’s greatest asset, reminding them that excellence comes from character, not just academics. “Young people today should create their own identity, not just chase marks or scores. A strong, empowered youth makes a strong, empowered nation,” he said.
Infrastructure Initiatives and Employment Opportunities
As part of the event, five multipurpose halls constructed at a cost of ₹21 crore were inaugurated, and the foundation for three rural stadiums was laid. CM Yogi Adityanath also highlighted employment initiatives, noting that 9 lakh youth have been provided government jobs under the current administration, with merit and transparency as guiding principles.
Youth for Environment and Social Change
CM Yogi Adityanath called on youth to participate in water and environmental conservation efforts through check dams, Amrit Sarovars, and tree plantation drives. The Chief Minister announced that the next Van Mahotsav will aim for 35 crore trees to be planted, with youth and women’s groups actively involved. He urged participants to leverage programs like the Viksit Bharat Ji Ram Ji initiative and promote greenery in their families and communities.
Drugs, Tourism, and Civic Responsibility
The Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reiterated that young people must take proactive measures to curb narcotics, protect the environment, and support sustainable tourism initiatives. “Drug trade destroys lives and communities; youth involvement is crucial to crush these networks,” he stated.
The program concluded with awards recognizing outstanding youth contributions, reinforcing the message that empowered, responsible, and proactive youth are essential to Uttar Pradesh’s and India’s holistic development.
