Deepak Tijori files a cheating case after allegedly being scammed ₹2.5 lakh while raising ₹25 crore for his new film. FIR registered, investigation underway.
Veteran Bollywood actor, director, and producer Deepak Tijori has filed a cheating case after allegedly being scammed out of ₹2.5 lakh while trying to raise funds for his new film. The actor claims the fraud occurred in February 2025 during efforts to secure investors for a project estimated at ₹25 crore.
Alleged Fraud by Entertainment Industry Associates
According to police reports, the suspects, identified as Kavita and Fauzia, falsely claimed associations with prominent entertainment companies. They assured Tijori they could arrange a “letter of interest” (LOI) within a week to secure investment. However, after receiving the money, the suspects reportedly stopped responding to calls and messages.

Deepak Tijori, a resident of Goregaon (West), approached the Bangur Nagar police station last month to report the incident. Following verification, the police registered an FIR under sections 316(2), 318(4), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). A police officer confirmed that further investigation is underway.
How the Scam Took Place
Tijori, who has been active in the Hindi film industry since 1990, had been working on his new film “Tom, Dick and Mary” since December 2024 and was seeking investors. A friend introduced him to Kavita Cooper, who claimed to be associated with T-Series. Kavita promised to secure funding and flaunted her alleged connections with Zee Network and other media houses.
However, Tijori later discovered that Kavita had actually resigned from T-Series, raising suspicions about her credibility. Fauzia, the second suspect, was also allegedly involved in misleading the actor about the project’s funding.
Police Action and Next Steps
The Bangur Nagar police have identified both suspects and are continuing the investigation. Authorities are gathering evidence and verifying claims of the alleged financial fraud.
Fans and the industry are watching closely as Tijori, known for films like Jo Jeeta Woh Sikandar, navigates this unfortunate episode. The case highlights the growing need for vigilance when dealing with potential investors in Bollywood projects.
