Mann Government: Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema has issued a stern warning to gangsters operating in the state: either leave Punjab or face strict action from the police. The warning came during a state-level tribute ceremony held in Barnala’s Thikriwala village on the occasion of Shaheed Seva Singh Thikriwala’s death anniversary.
The ceremony saw Finance Minister Cheema, AAP Punjab President Aman Arora, and MP Meet Hayer offering floral tributes to honor the sacrifices of Shaheed Seva Singh Thikriwala. Cheema highlighted the revolutionary contributions of the martyr during the Praja Mandal movement, noting that today’s empowered farmers owe their rights to such freedom fighters. Addressing media questions on law and order in Punjab, he asserted that gangsters must either leave the state or prepare to face strict police action.
Women’s Monthly Assistance
Regarding the monthly ₹1,000 financial assistance for women, Cheema stated that four out of the five AAP promises have already been fulfilled. The fifth promise is expected to be implemented before the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections. On the Shromani Akali Dal, Cheema remarked that the once-revered party has now reduced to a family-run setup.

Addressing recent drug-related deaths in Jagraon, he clarified that only one death occurred within the family and stressed that major drug traffickers are currently imprisoned.

CM Bhagwant Mann Criticizes Old Parties
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann inaugurated a new co-educational government degree college in Ajnala, near the international border, at a cost of ₹15 crore. He accused the Congress, Akali Dal, and BJP of decades-long mismanagement and corruption that forced Punjab youth to seek employment abroad.
The new college, named after Baba Gamchukk Ji Maharaj, aims to strengthen education, create local employment opportunities, and promote inclusive development in the border region. It will benefit youth from over 50 nearby villages, with expected enrollment of more than 2,000 students in fields such as Arts, Science, Commerce, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Digital Education. Girls in the area are expected to benefit significantly from this initiative.
Government Employment Initiatives
CM Mann highlighted that the government has already provided over 63,000 permanent jobs to youth based purely on merit, aiming to curb migration and ensure local development.
Border Area Development
The college, spread over 15 acres, has been designed as a modern, student-centric institution with professional facilities and sports infrastructure. It aims to empower youth, promote social equality, and serve as a model of governance with equal opportunities for all, reinforcing the AAP government’s commitment to inclusive development in sensitive border regions.
