Delhi gig workers meet CM Rekha Gupta, demand formation of welfare board, better working conditions, social security, and rest centers.
A delegation of gig workers met with Chief Minister Rekha Gupta to discuss solutions for their challenges and demanded the formation of a dedicated welfare board. The delegation emphasized the need for better working conditions, social security, establishment of rest centers, special registration drives on the labor portal, and issuance of Ayushman Cards for gig workers.
Focus on Welfare and Safety Measures
During the meeting, the delegation highlighted that creating a welfare board would ensure improved work environments and social protection for gig workers. They also suggested launching campaigns for registration on the labor portal and providing welfare benefits to e-Shram registered gig workers. Issuance of Ayushman Cards was also requested to provide health security to gig workers across the state.

Draft Bill Presented
The delegation also presented a draft “Gig Workers Registration and Welfare Bill” outlining several recommendations. Key proposals included mandatory welfare contributions by aggregators, real-time transaction tracking for transparency, and mechanisms for grievance redressal and appeals. The bill aims to formalize protections and provide structured benefits for gig workers.
Delegation Leadership
The delegation was led by Dharmendra Kumar, founder of Janpahal, along with Dr. Mukhtar Alam of the Gig Workers Association and other prominent representatives. The meeting reflects a continued effort to improve conditions for gig workers and secure long-term benefits through legislative measures.
