Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has strongly endorsed the Union Budget, describing it as a reflection of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary leadership and a roadmap for a developed and self-reliant India. Addressing a press conference at the Delhi Secretariat a day after the budget presentation, the Chief Minister thanked Prime Minister Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for what she termed a “future-ready and people-centric” budget.
Rekha Gupta said the budget instills confidence across all sections of society and balances economic stability with public aspirations. According to her, the principles of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas are clearly visible in the government’s financial planning. She added that the Delhi government is working in close coordination with the Centre to effectively implement welfare schemes and ensure optimal utilisation of allocated funds.
Budget Focuses on Women, Youth and Urban Development
Highlighting key provisions, the Chief Minister said the budget places special emphasis on women and girls, including proposals to construct hostels for women in every district. She called this a commendable initiative that will enhance safety, education and employment opportunities for young women.
Calling it a “next-generation budget,” Rekha Gupta noted that youth empowerment has been prioritised through increased spending on education, sports and skill development. She said such initiatives will prepare the younger generation to contribute meaningfully to India’s growth story.
Delhi Gets ₹1,348 Crore Allocation
Rekha Gupta revealed that Delhi has received an allocation of ₹1,348 crore in the Union Budget. She also pointed out that a combined provision of ₹15,000 crore has been earmarked for Delhi, Puducherry and Jammu & Kashmir, a significant increase compared to previous years.
The Chief Minister also expressed gratitude to Union Home Minister Amit Shah for increasing the budget allocation for Delhi Police, stating that it would help strengthen law and order in the national capital.
