Yash Raj Films clarifies Mardaani 3 controversy after Delhi Police warns against fake rumours linking film promotion to missing girls.
Yash Raj Films (YRF) has officially responded to social media allegations claiming that the promotion of Rani Mukerji’s Mardaani 3 was linked to a surge in reports of missing girls in Delhi. The controversy arose after several viral posts suggested that the rise in missing persons in the first 15 days of 2026 was deliberately exaggerated to promote the film. The claims sparked widespread online debate, prompting the Delhi Police to issue a stern warning against spreading false information.
YRF Denies Any Wrongdoing
On Friday, a spokesperson for Yash Raj Films categorically denied the allegations of paid promotion. The spokesperson stated,
“Yash Raj Films is a 50-year-old production house built on ethical and transparent practices. We strongly refute claims that the promotional campaign for Mardaani 3 has sensationalised missing persons cases in Delhi. We have full faith in the authorities to reveal the facts and truth at the appropriate time.”

YRF emphasized that the company had no involvement in generating rumours or creating any hype linked to the reported missing girls.
Delhi Police Issues Warning
Earlier, the Delhi Police clarified that there was no unusual surge in missing persons reports compared to previous years. Police PRO Sanjay Tyagi stated that the discussion on social media was likely fueled by paid promotions designed to create panic. The police further warned that spreading false information for financial or promotional gain would lead to strict action against the offenders.
Box Office Performance of Mardaani 3
Despite the controversy, Mardaani 3 has performed well at the box office. Directed by Abhiraj Minawala, the film stars Rani Mukerji, Janki Bodiwala, and Mallika Prasad in key roles. As of now, the film has collected ₹26.88 crore in its first eight days, marking a strong start for the third installment of the franchise.
