Aayush Sharma, Salman Khan’s brother-in-law, receives threat email linked to Lawrence Bishnoi gang; Mumbai Police investigate following Ranveer Singh threats.
Bollywood actor Aayush Sharma, who is also Salman Khan’s brother-in-law, has reportedly received a threatening email allegedly linked to the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang, authorities confirmed. This development comes after actor Ranveer Singh faced a similar threat, raising concerns about a possible coordinated intimidation campaign targeting prominent figures in the film industry.
Threat Email Details
According to the Mumbai Crime Branch, Aayush Sharma received the email through Proton Mail, a secure end-to-end encrypted service designed to protect sender identity. Investigators suspect the sender deliberately used Proton Mail to mask their identity and bypass conventional digital tracking.
The email allegedly claimed association with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, which is known for its involvement in high-profile crimes, including extortion and organized attacks on celebrities.

Connection to Ranveer Singh Threat
Days before Sharma received the email, actor Ranveer Singh reportedly received an extortion threat via a WhatsApp voice note sent to his manager’s phone. Police confirmed that the sender used a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to conceal their network location and identity.
Mumbai Police have recorded the statement of Ranveer Singh’s manager as part of an ongoing investigation into these threats. Authorities are probing whether the incidents are part of a larger intimidation campaign targeting Bollywood celebrities.
Background: Rohit Shetty Firing Incident
The fresh threats follow the January 31, 2024, firing incident outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence, for which the Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility via social media.
The Mumbai Crime Branch invoked sections of the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against multiple suspects involved in the incident. Five accused were presented before a special MCOCA court on February 11, and police custody has been extended until February 17 to allow further interrogation.
During the proceedings, defence lawyer Ajinkya Mirgal challenged claims regarding the alleged weapon supply by Praveen Lonkar, who has been in jail for 18 months in connection with the Baba Siddique murder case.
Investigative Findings
Police revealed that the accused communicated via the Signal app to maintain secrecy. Investigators are also seeking access to additional deleted chats to gather evidence.
One of the accused, Asaram Fasle, reportedly worked as a garage mechanic for the Bishnoi gang and allegedly supplied weapons under the instructions of Shubham Lonkar, who is believed to be the mastermind behind both the Baba Siddique murder case and the Rohit Shetty firing case.
