India and Israel elevate ties to a special strategic partnership, with PM Modi and PM Netanyahu planning a G2G meet in India to boost innovation, technology, and cooperation.
In a landmark move, India and Israel announced the elevation of their bilateral relationship to a “special strategic partnership”, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Thursday during a joint press briefing with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
“We have taken a historic decision to give our time-tested relationship the status of special strategic partnership. This is a reflection of the aspirations of both the nations,” Modi said, highlighting the growing closeness between the two countries.
Plans for Government-to-Government (G2G) Meeting
Prime Minister Netanyahu confirmed that the two nations will hold a Government-to-Government (G2G) meeting in India to further strengthen cooperation.
“We have decided to have a G2G meeting in India. As soon as we can arrange it, we would like to take the distinguished ministers who are here. The meeting of minds and hearts will create an even greater boost to the enormous benefits that we can bring to each other,” Netanyahu said.
This meeting is expected to deepen engagement in innovation, technology, education, and agriculture, building on agreements signed during the bilateral talks.

Focus on Innovation, Education, and Future Cooperation
Both leaders emphasized the importance of innovation and technology in shaping the future. Netanyahu highlighted India’s capabilities in education and artificial intelligence, noting that precision tools and AI could now reach every student to unlock their potential.
“The limitations that constrained us in previous times no longer hold. The future belongs to those who innovate. Israel and India are bent on innovation, proud of our past civilizations but determined to seize the future together,” Netanyahu said, underlining the goals of the India Israel special strategic partnership.
Modi Honours Knesset Award to India
During the visit, PM Modi received the ‘Speaker of the Knesset Medal’ and dedicated it to 140 crore Indians, emphasizing the enduring bond between the two nations.
“Shalom! I thank PM Netanyahu for the warm welcome. Nine years ago, I visited Israel for the first time, and returning now to receive this honor is a moment of pride. I dedicate this award to the people of India and the enduring India-Israel friendship,” Modi said.
Netanyahu Calls the Visit ‘Extraordinarily Productive’
Describing the visit as historic, Netanyahu said, “This is an amazing visit, short but extraordinarily productive and moving. The India-Israel special strategic partnership will continue to unlock new opportunities and bring both nations closer in innovation, trade, and technology.
