CHANDIGARH – Following the court’s acquittal of AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, Punjab Education Minister Harjot Bains hailed the decision as a historic triumph for Indian democracy and a “resounding slap” to dictatorial politics.
The “Fake” INR100Crore Scam
Minister Bains launched a scathing critique of the BJP, asserting that the legal outcome proves the central government’s case was built on sand. He highlighted that despite the high-decibel allegations of a ₹100 crore scam, investigative agencies failed to recover a single penny.
“It is now clear that this was a cheap political conspiracy designed specifically to halt Arvind Kejriwal’s rising popularity,” Bains stated. “Investigative agencies were wielded as political weapons, and today, that strategy has failed miserably.”
Allegations of Inhumanity
Bains didn’t mince words regarding the personal toll the legal battle took on the AAP leadership. He pointed out the “inhumane” treatment of the leaders, specifically referencing:
Manish Sisodia’s two-year incarceration despite his wife’s serious illness.
Arvind Kejriwal’s six-month detention regardless of his well-documented health issues as a diabetic patient.
“Politics is one thing, but the opposition crossed all limits of humanity,” Bains remarked, suggesting that the leaders were essentially being punished for their “crimes” of building world-class schools and hospitals.
Eyes on 2027: Breaking Records
Looking toward the future, the Minister framed the court’s verdict as a catalyst for the party’s momentum in Punjab. He predicted that the AAP would not only win the 2027 Punjab Assembly Elections but would surpass its own landslide victory from 2022.
Bains concluded by stating that the public would use the power of the vote to respond to the “oppression” faced by the party leadership
