Punjab completes one year of Yudh Nashean Virudh anti-drug campaign Punjab as CM Bhagwant Singh Mann highlights 36,178 FIRs, ₹16.70 crore recovery and 88% conviction rate.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Monday congratulated the people of the state as the government completed one year of its flagship Yudh Nashean Virudh anti-drug campaign Punjab, describing it as a historic and decisive movement against narcotics.
Calling it an unprecedented crackdown, the Chief Minister said the campaign has fundamentally reshaped the fight against drugs by dismantling organized networks and enforcing a strict zero-tolerance policy.
Largest Crackdown in Punjab’s History
In an official statement, CM Mann said the Yudh Nashean Virudh anti-drug campaign Punjab has emerged as the most aggressive action ever taken against drug traffickers in the state.
“The previous governments allowed the drug trade to flourish, destroying entire generations. Our government has broken the backbone of this network by snapping supply chains and putting the ‘big fish’ behind bars,” he asserted.
Massive Enforcement Drive in One Year
Highlighting the scale of operations between March 2025 and February 2026, the Chief Minister shared detailed statistics demonstrating the impact of the Yudh Nashean Virudh anti-drug campaign Punjab:
36,178 FIRs registered against drug smugglers
51,648 drug traffickers arrested
2,277 kilograms of heroin seized
Over 4.9 million intoxicant tablets and capsules confiscated
₹16.70 crore drug money recovered
Properties worth crores belonging to smugglers confiscated or demolished
The conviction rate under the NDPS Act has shown consistent improvement, reaching approximately 88% in 2025, reflecting stronger investigations, improved forensic backing, and effective prosecution.
Zero-Tolerance Policy Turned into Mass Movement
CM Mann emphasized that the Yudh Nashean Virudh anti-drug campaign Punjab was designed not merely as a law enforcement exercise but as a people’s movement.
“A comprehensive and multipronged strategy was adopted to transform this into a mass movement with public participation. The zero-tolerance policy against drugs has yielded visible results,” he said.

The Chief Minister noted that the campaign’s success lies in community support, intelligence-based operations, and coordinated enforcement efforts across districts.
Clear Break from the Past
Drawing a sharp contrast with earlier administrations, CM Mann said the current government refused to remain silent spectators while drug networks expanded.
“Unlike previous regimes, we did not allow smugglers to prosper at the cost of Punjab’s youth. We ensured exemplary and decisive action,” he stated.
Relentless Fight to Protect Youth
Reaffirming his government’s commitment, the Chief Minister declared that the battle against drugs is far from over. The Yudh Nashean Virudh anti-drug campaign Punjab will continue with full force to safeguard the state’s younger generation.
“Our fight is to protect Punjab’s youth, and it will continue relentlessly without pause,” CM Mann concluded.
