Haryana Minister of State for Transport & Women and Child Development Department, Sh. Aseem Goel Naneola stated that a comprehensive plan is being formulated to provide a permanent solution to the waterlogging problem in Ambala city.

In order to address this issue, the Public Health Department will establish a stormwater disposal system near Dashmesh Market, Indrapuri, and Jaraut Road in Ambala. The tenders for this project are expected to open today and tomorrow, which will significantly aid in the drainage of rainwater from areas like Cloth Market, Nadi Mohalla, Jaraut Road, Indrapuri, and the surrounding regions.

The Transport Minister was visiting the waterlogged areas in Ambala today. After his visit, Shri Aseem Goel Naneola mentioned that cities are typically designed to withstand 50 mm of rain in 24 hours, but in the past 22 to 24 hours, Ambala city has received over 250 mm of rainfall, five times the usual amount. This has led to waterlogging in some areas. Although water has receded in some places, others remain waterlogged. Departmental teams are actively working in the field to ensure the quickest possible drainage of rainwater. He also informed that 48 pumps are being utilized for the drainage work. Apart from this, the Public Health Department is handling water drainage through the Banuri Naka Disposal, Ganesh Vihar, Indrapuri, and another disposal system.

The Transport Minister, along with officers from the Municipal Corporation, Public Health Department, Irrigation Department, Public Works Department, Urban Development Authority, and other relevant departments, conducted an inspection of waterlogged areas such as Cloth Market, Shukla Kund Road, Khanna Palace Road, Manav Chowk, Sector 8 and 9, Jandli, and others. He directed the concerned officials to coordinate and expedite the water drainage process in these areas.

He also mentioned that the administration is working diligently to address the waterlogging situation, and every possible measure will be taken to resolve it. Earlier today, Sh. Aseem Goel Naneola held a meeting with senior officers from Chandigarh and administrative officers of Ambala district at the rest house in Ambala city, focusing on finding a permanent solution to the waterlogging issue.
