Emraan Hashmi fans have another reason to be excited. Producer Vishesh Bhatt has confirmed that Jannat 3 is being planned, with the script for the third chapter currently in development. The announcement comes at a time when Emraan Hashmi is already in the spotlight following the response to Awarapan 2.
The upcoming film is expected to take the popular franchise in a new direction, although the makers have not yet revealed details about its storyline, cast or production schedule.
Vishesh Bhatt Confirms Work on Jannat 3
In a recent conversation with Zoom, Vishesh Bhatt revealed that the team has started working on the scripting process. He indicated that following Awarapan 2, his attention has turned towards the next instalment of the Jannat franchise.
The producer also confirmed that the script is currently being worked on. However, there has been no official announcement regarding the director, supporting cast or filming schedule.
For now, Jannat 3 remains in the development phase, and fans will have to wait for more information about the project.
Will Emraan Hashmi Return?
Emraan Hashmi has been closely associated with the Jannat franchise since its beginning. In the first film, released in 2008, he played Arjun Dixit, a young man whose ambition for quick success pulls him into the world of gambling and match-fixing.
The second instalment, Jannat 2, arrived in 2012 but introduced a completely different character. Hashmi played Sonu Dilli, a street-smart man who becomes involved in a dangerous story surrounding the illegal arms trade.
Since the previous two films featured different protagonists, it remains unclear whether Jannat 3 will bring back one of Hashmi’s earlier characters or introduce an entirely new lead.
Why Jannat Remains Special for Emraan Hashmi
Jannat holds an important place in Emraan Hashmi’s career. Released on May 16, 2008, the romantic crime drama was directed by Kunal Deshmukh and produced by Mukesh Bhatt.
The film featured Sonal Chauhan opposite Hashmi and followed Arjun Dixit’s journey from gambling to match-fixing and his eventual confrontation with his criminal past. Its emotional storyline and memorable music helped the film connect with audiences.
The success of Jannat also established Hashmi as a major name in romantic and crime-oriented films.

What Happened in Jannat 2?
The franchise returned four years later with Jannat 2. Instead of continuing Arjun Dixit’s story, the film introduced Sonu Dilli as its central character.
Directed by Kunal Deshmukh, the film featured Randeep Hooda and Esha Gupta in important roles. The story revolved around the illegal arms trade and Sonu’s complicated relationship with police officer ACP Pratap Raghuvanshi.
This approach allowed the franchise to explore a different storyline while retaining its crime-drama identity.
Vishesh Bhatt on Awarapan 2
During the same conversation, Vishesh Bhatt also discussed Awarapan 2. He clarified that the sequel was not developed simply as a money-making project.
According to the producer, the makers initially struggled to find buyers for the film and eventually invested their own money in the project. He added that interest from the market increased after the film was completed.
The comments come as Awarapan 2 continues to generate discussion among Emraan Hashmi’s fans.
Jannat 3 Could Mark Another New Chapter
With Jannat 3 currently in the scripting stage, there is considerable curiosity around the direction of the franchise. The first two films successfully presented different stories and characters while maintaining the crime-romance flavour associated with the series.
The makers have yet to reveal whether Emraan Hashmi will officially return and what kind of story the third film will tell. For now, fans will have to wait for further announcements as the project moves ahead.
