The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a senior-level job opportunity within the Indian cricket setup. The board is inviting applications for the position of BCCI Head Sports Science and Medicine at its Centre of Excellence (CoE).
The vacancy, announced on September 11, is aimed at an experienced professional who can lead sports science and medical operations across the board’s elite cricket programmes. The selected candidate will play an important role in player welfare, injury prevention, rehabilitation and long-term physical development.
What Will the Selected Candidate Do?
The BCCI Head Sports Science and Medicine will provide strategic and operational leadership for sports science and medical services associated with Team India and the Centre of Excellence.
The position will also involve supervising senior members of the support setup, including the Head of Physiotherapy at the CoE, Team India’s Head of Physiotherapy, the CoE’s Head of Strength and Conditioning, and Team India’s strength and conditioning staff.
The appointee will work alongside national and CoE coaches, cricket education teams and other performance specialists to develop integrated programmes designed to support the physical development and overall wellbeing of Indian cricketers.

Player Welfare and Injury Prevention Among Key Priorities
One of the major responsibilities of the BCCI Head Sports Science and Medicine will be to strengthen player welfare and reduce injury risks. The role will cover injury prevention, rehabilitation and physical development.

BCCI Job Eligibility: What Qualifications Are Required?

Applicants are required to have:
- A Master’s degree in Sports Science or a related field.
- A doctorate will be considered an additional advantage.
- At least five years of experience in a strategic leadership role involving multidisciplinary performance teams.
- Strong experience in creating and implementing strategic plans.
- Professional experience providing sports science or medical support to high-performance teams in professional or Olympic sports.
- Current professional accreditation or a valid licence in sports science or medicine.

Candidates with previous experience as a Chief Medical Officer or Medical Director may have an advantage during the selection process. Specialist recognition in sports and exercise medicine can also strengthen an application.
