AR Rahman Explains the Thought Behind ‘Jai Jai Ram’
AR Rahman has spoken about the creative approach behind the devotional composition. According to the composer, the intention was to retain the intimate quality of a prayer while giving the track the scale expected from a cinematic presentation.
Rahman also praised Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal for bringing their individual vocal styles to Kumar Vishwas’s lyrics while maintaining the devotional character of the song.
The composer hopes listeners connect with the track on a personal level and experience both calmness and devotion while listening to it.
Kumar Vishwas Says the Song Is About Devotion
Lyricist Dr. Kumar Vishwas explained that the song revolves around the simplicity and spiritual depth of the name of Shri Ram.
Rather than attempting to describe Lord Ram through elaborate words, the lyrics focus on the personal relationship devotees share with him. The song presents Ram as a guide, source of strength and refuge.
Vishwas said the language was deliberately kept simple because genuine devotion does not require excessive ornamentation.
Why Was the Song Released on Ganesh Chaturthi?
Producer Namit Malhotra revealed that launching the song on Ganesh Chaturthi carried special significance for the team. He explained that Shri Ram remains central to the story of Ramayana and represents strength, guidance and faith for generations of devotees.
According to the producer, the team wanted the first song to reflect the emotional and spiritual foundation of the film rather than simply serve as a promotional track.
Beginning the musical campaign on an auspicious festival associated with new beginnings was therefore considered meaningful by the makers.
