Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini urged current and former legislators to organise Constitution dialogues with youth during Constitution Fortnight at a conference in Panchkula.
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini participated in the ‘Representatives’ Conference’ organised by the Haryana Legislative Assembly in Panchkula under the Constitution Fortnight celebrations. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla attended the programme and shared his guidance with the people’s representatives.
Sharing his views on the occasion, the Chief Minister said it was a privilege to participate in the conference alongside elected representatives of the state. He emphasised that although political ideologies and approaches may differ, the development of Haryana and the welfare of its people remain common priorities for everyone.
Saini said the conference offered an opportunity to draw inspiration from the country’s rich democratic heritage and collectively discuss the path ahead for the state.
Constitution Fortnight Should Reach Villages and Schools
The Chief Minister stressed that the real purpose of Constitution Fortnight would be fulfilled only when discussions about the Constitution move beyond conference halls and reach people at the grassroots level.

He said awareness about constitutional values should extend to villages, schools and residential communities so that citizens, particularly young people, can understand the importance of the Constitution and their responsibilities in a democracy.
Saini urged both serving and former legislators to take the initiative and organise Constitution dialogue programmes with young people in their respective constituencies.
CM Calls for Greater Youth Participation in Constitutional Awareness
Highlighting the importance of involving the younger generation, the Chief Minister said that discussions about the Constitution should become a part of everyday public engagement.
He encouraged legislators to interact with students and youth groups and explain the principles, values and democratic traditions that form the foundation of the country.
According to Saini, such initiatives can help strengthen constitutional awareness and inspire young citizens to participate responsibly in democratic processes.
Political Differences Should Not Come in the Way of Haryana’s Progress
The Chief Minister also underlined the importance of cooperation among public representatives, irrespective of their political affiliations.
He said political differences are natural in a democracy, but the progress of Haryana and the well-being of its people should remain the shared mission of all representatives.
The Constitution Fortnight programme, he said, provides an opportunity to reflect on the country’s democratic journey, learn from its past and work towards a better future.
The conference in Panchkula highlighted the need to take constitutional discussions to the grassroots and encourage young people to understand and uphold democratic values. Through his appeal, Saini called on current and former legislators to make these conversations more accessible across Haryana.
