A delegation of Naxalite victims from Bastar region today paid a courtesy call on CM Vishnu Dev Sai at the Chief Minister’s residence. The delegation included victims of Naxal violence from different areas of Bastar division including Sukma, Bijapur, Kanker who have lost their loved ones, suffered physical torture or suffered displacement due to Naxal violence over the years. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma was also present on the occasion.
The delegation, while submitting a memorandum to CM Vishnu Dev Sai, appealed to him to take the ongoing anti-Naxal operations in the hills of Kurregutta to a decisive turn. He said thousands of families in Bastar have been facing the menace of Maoist terror for four decades, which has caused deep damage to the social, educational and economic foundation of the region. In recent years, the effective action of the security forces and the government’s policy of inclusive development have rekindled hope for peace and development in Bastar. The villagers described events like Bastar Olympics and Bastar Pandum as symbols of this new awareness and faith.
The Chief Minister gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured that the Chhattisgarh Government is fully committed to the eradication of Naxalism. He said the security operation in Kurregutta was at a crucial stage. The government will complete the Naxal eradication campaign at any cost so that the development of Bastar gets momentum. The Chief Minister made it clear that Naxalism was not just a violent movement but also a threat to our co-existence based culture.CM Vishnu Dev Sai said that the government stands with every Naxalite victim family and any attempt to break the morale of the security forces or hamper the operation will not be tolerated.
CM Vishnu Dev Sai said that sustainable peace and inclusive development in Bastar is the goal of the government, and this is possible only when the region is completely freed from the shadow of violence and fear. The Chief Minister hoped that with the power of public participation and trust in the anti-Naxal struggle, we will undoubtedly achieve success and lead Bastar towards s ustainable peace and development.
