AAP delegation visits remote Gujarat village in Narmada, highlights lack of water, roads, electricity and schools despite development claims.’
A delegation of the Aam Aadmi Party Aam Aadmi Party recently visited Tumdavadi village in the Chikda taluka of Narmada district, Gujarat, highlighting what they described as serious gaps in basic infrastructure and public services. The visit has reignited debate over rural development in tribal regions of the state.
The visit was led by Gujarat AAP leader Chaitra Vasava along with newly elected district and taluka representatives Ghemsingbhai Vasava and Jaideepbhai. The team shared their observations on social media after interacting with local residents and reviewing ground conditions in the village.
Claims of Poor Basic Facilities
According to the AAP delegation, the village—reportedly home to around 130 households and nearly 600 residents—continues to face a lack of essential amenities. Residents are allegedly dependent on river water for drinking due to the absence of a piped water supply system.

The leaders also claimed that the village lacks proper road connectivity, making it difficult for emergency services, including ambulance access, to reach the area. They further stated that there are no nearby schools for approximately 70–80 children, and no anganwadi centre for early childhood care.
Concerns Over Electricity and Documentation
The delegation added that electricity supply is either absent or highly unreliable in the area. They also highlighted that several residents reportedly do not possess basic identity and welfare documents such as Aadhaar cards, ration cards, or voter IDs.
Criticism of Development Narrative
The AAP leaders criticized the contrast between official development claims and ground realities in remote tribal areas. They stated that while the “Gujarat Model” is often presented as a success story nationally, underserved villages continue to struggle with basic necessities like water, education, electricity, and road infrastructure.
The delegation indirectly referenced national leadership while urging that development claims must be evaluated based on actual conditions in rural and tribal regions.
