AAP MLA Chhatar Vasava has demanded a CID investigation into the expenses of Prime Minister Modi’s Dediapada program.

According to Vasava, only politically influential individuals were awarded contracts in the program, with payments made up to 10 times higher than normal. He asserted that the funds meant for tribal development must not be spent on extravagant displays.

Vasava criticized officials for ignoring tender rules and awarding crores of rupees to BJP-affiliated contractors. “We do not object to Prime Minister Modi celebrating the Gaurav Divas, but we oppose the spending of crores on unnecessary pomp,” he said. He added that the government spent development funds from Narmada district’s tribal welfare programs on events like Vikas Parv, Amrit Mahotsav, Gaurav Yatra, and Unity March, while issues like malnutrition, sickle cell disease, construction of anganwadis, and schools remain unaddressed.

Vasava highlighted the misuse of funds in various ways:

• 20 buses were flagged off during the program, but their current location is unknown.

• DGVCL received ₹1,16,73,000 from the tribal fund.

• ST Corporation received ₹6 crore in allocations.

He alleged that the payments were made to BJP-linked agencies without following tender norms. Meanwhile, there were no grants for anganwadis, school classrooms, or malnourished children. “It is wrong to spend crores of rupees meant for Narmada district’s development on extravagance,” he added.

Vasava demanded that officials, contractors, and BJP-linked leaders involved be investigated by the CID, and the money recovered. He called for FIRs to be registered against responsible individuals within a week, warning that if this does not happen, a protest will be organized in front of the Collector and SP offices in Narmada district.

He also noted that local people had submitted tenders, but only politically influential individuals were awarded the work, and at excessive costs. Expenses were made in three phases for domes, mandaps, and stages, which could have been completed with five sets in the same budget. Water expenses amounted to ₹50 lakh, and mobile toilets cost ₹2.4 crore, while the same amount could have built 1,000 toilets.

Vasava concluded by stating that false allegations are being made against him to divert attention, but as a representative of the tribal community, he will ensure that funds meant for tribal development are not misused in extravagant displays.
