Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) OBC cell state president Piyush Parmar has strongly criticized the Gujarat government over its revised agricultural procurement policy, alleging that farmers are being misled and denied their rightful support.

Allegations of policy rollback on full crop procurement

Parmar claimed that the state government had earlier assured farmers that the entire produce under the Minimum Support Price (MSP) scheme would be procured. However, he alleged that the government has now reversed its stance and issued a new circular limiting procurement to 100 maunds of bajra and 75 maunds of maize.

He said this sudden change has created confusion and distress among farmers who were expecting full procurement of their produce.

Farmers allegedly left in distress

According to Parmar, procurement centres were opened after the initial announcement, but the revised limits have led to uncertainty among farmers. He said many cultivators are now unsure whether to sell their remaining produce in the open market or through government centres.

He described the situation as financially and emotionally stressful for farming families.

AAP accuses government of misleading farmers

The AAP leader accused the ruling party of misleading farmers by making announcements that are later changed. He said this reflects a policy that does not prioritize farmers’ interests.

Parmar further alleged that the government’s decisions have resulted in disappointment at procurement centres, where reduced activity is being witnessed.

Call for farmer unity and protest

Appealing to farmer organizations, Parmar urged them to unite against what he called unfair policies. He stated that AAP stands with farmers and will support them in raising their concerns.

He also questioned the government on rising fuel prices and input costs, arguing that limiting procurement does not ensure fair returns for farmers.
