AAP Student Wing ASAP has released its ‘Badlav Ka Manifesto’ for DUSU elections, focusing on education, hostels, fees, student facilities and rights.
The AAP Student Wing ASAP has entered the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) election arena for the first time with its ‘Badlav Ka Manifesto’, placing education, hostel facilities, fees, campus amenities and students’ democratic rights at the heart of its campaign.
The Association of Students for Alternative Politics (ASAP), the student wing associated with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), launched the manifesto on Friday and presented its electoral campaign as an effort to bring greater accountability and representation to student politics.
Education and Student Facilities at the Centre
The AAP Student Wing ASAP said its manifesto focuses on issues that directly affect students, including access to education, hostel facilities, fee-related concerns, campus amenities and democratic rights.
The organisation argued that student politics should move beyond election-time announcements and focus on delivering tangible work. Its campaign message, ‘Ab Vaade Nahin, Kaam Chahiye’, reflects its emphasis on accountability and action rather than repeated promises.
According to ASAP, students have seen similar commitments being made during successive elections, while many of their concerns later receive limited attention. The organisation has therefore called for a student union that remains connected with students and responds to their everyday concerns.
Dharmender Rawat: Student Politics Should Go Beyond Posters
Speaking at the manifesto launch, ASAP in-charge Dharmender Rawat said the organisation does not want student politics to remain restricted to elections, posters and campaign activities.
He stressed the need to create opportunities for ordinary students to take leadership roles. According to Rawat, students who experience campus-related challenges themselves are better placed to understand and raise those concerns.
The AAP Student Wing ASAP has accordingly positioned its DUSU campaign around the idea of bringing common students closer to decision-making and leadership.
Ashmit Kumar Named Presidential Candidate
ASAP has announced Ashmit Kumar (Gurjar) as its candidate for the post of DUSU President.
The organisation said Kumar will contest the election with a commitment to raise student-related concerns strongly and promote a more accountable approach to university student politics.
His candidature forms a key part of ASAP’s first electoral campaign in the DUSU elections, with the organisation seeking to present itself as an alternative to established student-political approaches.

Visually Impaired Dalit Student Pankaj Kumar to Contest for Secretary
One of the major highlights of ASAP’s campaign is its decision to field Pankaj Kumar for the post of Secretary. Kumar is a visually impaired student from the Dalit community.
The AAP Student Wing ASAP said his candidature is intended to expand representation in student politics and provide space for voices that have traditionally remained outside the mainstream.
The organisation described Kumar’s candidature as more than a symbolic decision, arguing that students from marginalised and disadvantaged backgrounds should also have meaningful opportunities to lead.
Eeshna Gupta Emphasises Inclusive Leadership
ASAP Delhi State Co-in-charge Eeshna Gupta said giving Pankaj Kumar an opportunity to contest represents the organisation’s broader vision of inclusive student leadership.
She said the objective is to create a political space where ordinary students, marginalised students and young people who speak up for their rights can also take responsibility and lead.
The AAP Student Wing ASAP has appealed to DUSU voters to support change, accountability and genuine student representation instead of what it described as traditional politics and hollow promises.
‘Change in Direction, Not Just Faces’
With its first DUSU electoral contest, ASAP is seeking to make student issues the central theme of its campaign. The organisation maintains that the university needs more than a change of candidates or faces.
According to ASAP, the larger requirement is a change in the way student politics functions, with greater focus on accountability, representation and work on issues affecting students.
The AAP Student Wing ASAP has therefore presented its ‘Badlav Ka Manifesto’ as a roadmap for a different approach to DUSU politics, built around the message that students are looking for concrete work rather than election-time promises.
