Aarya Babbar compares Yash’s Ravana look in Ramayana to KGF and defends Saif Ali Khan’s performance in Adipurush.
Actor Aarya Babbar has shared his views on the portrayals of Ravana by Saif Ali Khan in Adipurush and Yash in Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming film Ramayana. While Aarya praised Saif’s performance, he said Yash’s first look as the demon king reminded him of his appearance in the KGF franchise.
Aarya Babbar, who is currently portraying Ravana in the stage production Mahabali, believes an actor’s performance should be judged in the context of the director’s creative vision. He also expressed hope that audiences would get to see a different side of Yash when the complete film arrives in theatres.
Aarya Babbar Defends Saif Ali Khan’s Performance in Adipurush
Saif Ali Khan faced considerable criticism for his portrayal of Ravana in Om Raut’s Adipurush. The film also received a mixed response from audiences and did not achieve the expected box-office success. However, Aarya believes it would be unfair to hold the actor solely responsible for the character’s presentation.
Speaking to Variety India, Aarya praised Saif’s acting and explained that a director’s interpretation plays a crucial role in shaping a character on screen. According to him, the actor delivered a distinct intensity in his portrayal of the mythological antagonist.
Aarya’s comments suggest that an actor’s appearance, performance and overall characterisation are influenced significantly by the filmmaker’s vision. He believes Saif should not be blamed for creative decisions made during the production of Adipurush.

Yash’s Ravana Look Reminds Aarya of KGF
While supporting Saif Ali Khan, Aarya had a different observation about Yash’s first look as Ravana in Ramayana. He clarified that it was too early to evaluate the actor’s complete performance, but the initial appearance seemed familiar.
Aarya pointed out that Yash’s beard brought back memories of his popular look from the KGF films. In his opinion, the costumes appeared to be one of the noticeable changes in the actor’s new avatar.
He also mentioned that Yash’s appearance in Toxic had offered a different visual impression. Nevertheless, Aarya remains hopeful that the actor’s performance in Ramayana will reveal a fresh interpretation of Ravana.
He acknowledged that the upcoming film is being developed with an international audience in mind, and expressed interest in seeing how director Nitesh Tiwari presents the character throughout the story.
Aarya Babbar Says His Ravana Is Different in Mahabali
Aarya also highlighted the differences between his stage portrayal and the versions of Ravana being presented in mainstream cinema. According to the actor, his interpretation in Mahabali is distinct from the characters audiences have seen in Adipurush and the upcoming Ramayana.
His comments underline how the same mythological figure can be portrayed differently depending on the medium, creative approach and the filmmaker or performer’s understanding of the character.
