ADG Paliwal: There were 6 sessions on the first day of the road safety training program at RPA.

ADG Paliwal said that strict adherence to traffic rules will reduce road accidents.

ADG Paliwal: Every small step we take towards traffic management will make human life safer and happier. In this context, the police personnel and officers should effectively enforce the rule of law in day-to-day policing, while paying attention to the minutiae of traffic-related acts. This will improve the loss of lives in road accidents and the hardships of the affected families. This was stated by Additional Director General of Police (ADG), Traffic ADG Paliwal at the inaugural session of a two-day training programme on ‘Capacity Building Programme on Road Safety’ at the Rajasthan Police Academy here on Wednesday.

ADG Paliwal said that under the new laws, the 60 Police Act has given special powers to the police officers of the police station and circle level to take action on matters related to traffic. Activities obstructing smooth and safe traffic, such as display of goods or other materials in front of shops, should be taken cognizance of by the police authorities and appropriate action should be taken. He advised the young trainees present in the programme to understand the laws and provisions related to traffic management in depth and ensure their effective compliance.

Additional Director General of Police, ATS and SOG in his address said that the government has announced several schemes and awards to encourage citizens who have contributed in reducing road accidents and providing immediate help and relief to the victims of accidents. It is very important to propagate them. He said that road accidents can be reduced only through awareness and vigilance of the citizens.

Smt. Shuchi Tyagi, Secretary and Commissioner, Department of Transport and Road Safety said that the death of a citizen in road accidents is a deep tragedy for the family of the person. Referring to the 4 E’s of traffic management – Engineering, Enforcement, Education and Emergency – he said that the habit of wearing helmets while riding a two-wheeler and seat belts while riding a four-wheeler can effectively reduce the death rate in road accidents.
