AICWA has called for action after Shilpa Shinde’s remarks about a past harassment case sparked fresh controversy in the television industry.
Television actor Shilpa Shinde has found herself at the center of a fresh controversy after comments made during a recent podcast reignited debate over a years-old dispute linked to the popular sitcom Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain. Following her remarks, the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has publicly called for a legal review of the matter and urged Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to ensure appropriate action if any wrongdoing is established.
The controversy stems from Shilpa Shinde’s discussion about her exit from Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain, a show that made her a household name. During a candid conversation on a podcast, the actress reflected on her conflict with the show’s production team and spoke about the legal battle that followed her departure.
After her comments went viral, AICWA issued a strong statement expressing concern over the impact that false allegations can have on individuals and the entertainment industry as a whole. The association stated that accusations related to sexual harassment are extremely serious and that any deliberate misuse of such allegations can damage reputations, careers, and families while also affecting public trust in genuine complaints.
According to the organization, cases involving false accusations can make it harder for actual victims of workplace harassment to seek justice. AICWA emphasized that while accountability is necessary in every case, the experiences of real survivors should never be questioned or dismissed because of the actions of a single individual.
The association also highlighted the importance of maintaining faith in legal processes designed to protect victims. It noted that thousands of women working in the film and television industry have faced real challenges and deserve support, respect, and a fair hearing whenever they choose to speak out.

In its appeal, AICWA requested that Maharashtra authorities examine the circumstances surrounding the matter and determine whether any legal violations occurred. The organization stated that if it is proven that false allegations were intentionally made, action should be taken according to the law to ensure fairness for all parties involved.
The dispute dates back nearly a decade. In 2016, Shilpa Shinde’s departure from Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain triggered a public disagreement between the actress and the show’s makers. At the time, she accused the production team of non-payment of dues, workplace harassment, and creating an uncomfortable working environment. The producers, meanwhile, alleged that Shinde had acted unprofessionally.
The conflict escalated further in 2017 when allegations of sexual harassment were levelled against producer Sanjay Kohli. The matter later concluded through a settlement between the parties.
Shinde’s recent comments have once again brought the issue into the spotlight, sparking intense discussions across social media. While some users have criticized the actress for her remarks, others have argued that the situation reflects the pressures and challenges artists sometimes face during industry disputes.
As the debate continues, the incident has reopened conversations about workplace rights, accountability, false accusations, and the importance of protecting genuine victims within the entertainment industry. Whether any official action follows remains to be seen, but the controversy has already become one of the most talked-about topics in television and Bollywood circles.
