How Much Does Amitabh Bachchan Make for KBC (Kaun Banega Crorepati)? The Jaw-Dropping Salary Revealed
Amitabh Bachchan, one of India’s most iconic actors, reportedly earns a staggering ₹5 crore per episode for hosting the hit TV show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC). This marks a massive increase from when the show first began in 2000, where Big B was paid just ₹25 lakh per episode.

KBC, the Indian adaptation of the British show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, premiered its 16th season on August 12, 2024, with Amitabh making a memorable introduction referencing ‘GPS-enabled currency notes’. The 17th season is set to premiere on August 11, 2025, with Amitabh confirmed to return as host after some speculation.
Amitabh Bachchan’s journey with KBC began at a time when his career was at a low point. Hosting the show helped revive his stardom, complementing his successful film Mohabbatein in 2000. Since then, his remuneration has steadily increased through the seasons—from ₹25 lakh per episode in the early 2000s to ₹50 lakh during seasons 4 and 5, then up to ₹1.5 crore to ₹2 crore per episode, finally reaching ₹5 crore in the most recent season.
Except for Season 3, which was hosted by Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh has been the face of KBC since its inception. His commanding presence and warm connection with contestants have made the show a beloved fixture on Indian television.
Outside of KBC, Amitabh Bachchan remains a busy actor. He stars in the upcoming film Section 84 (2025), will appear in Ramayana: Part 1 (2026) alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Sunny Deol, and is involved in the sequel to the sci-fi film Kalki 2898 AD, which began shooting in mid-2025. Last year, he also made a special appearance in the Gujarati film Fakt Purusho Maate.
