Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav announced here on Monday that the Amritsar Commissionerate Police has successfully traced a sensational Amritsar Robbery Case with the arrest of seven accused persons, including the victim’s driver’s daughter and her fiancé, who hatched the entire conspiracy to execute the robbery. This development comes amid the ongoing drive to make Punjab a safe and secure state in accordance with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s directives.

Shivani (age 28) of Amar Avenue in Khandwala Chheharta and her fiancé Gurtek Singh (age 23) of Ajnala have been identified as the people who were arrested. Their accomplices include Gurpreet Singh (age 34) of Majitha road Amritsar, Sandeep Singh (age 29) of Jandiala, Deepak Kumar (age 30) of the village Mahal, Hardev Singh (age 53) of Ajnala, and Harpal Singh (52) of Rajasansi in Amritsar. Accused Shivani is the daughter of victim Jiya Lal Behal’s driver, Narinder Mohan Mehta, who is also well-known for being wealthy.

According to the information, on Wednesday early in the morning, four armed men with their faces covered stole Rs 90 lakh and 3 kg of jewelry from victim Jiya Lal’s home.

According to DGP Gaurav Yadav, four accused people were apprehended from Amritsar, while three accused—Gurpreet, Sandeep, and Deepak—were taken into custody during an interstate operation involving the help of the Maharashtra Police and Central Agencies in the district of Dhule, Maharashtra. He said that police teams had also retrieved 800 grams of gold and Rs 41.40 lakhs in cash from their hands.

According to the DGP, police teams are using a methodical and expert strategy to crack this high-profile robbery case. He stated that more research is being done on this matter.

Further information was provided by Commissioner of Police (CP) Amritsar Ranjit Singh Dhillon, who stated that police teams from the Civil Lines Police Station, CIA-1 and CIA-2, under the direction of ACP North Vijay Kumar and ADCP CITY-2 Abhimanyu Rana, began their investigation into the incident right away.

He claimed that within a day, police teams had arrested three suspected Maharashtrians and tracked down the case in less than 12 hours. He continued, saying that the four remaining suspected people were taken into custody on Friday and Saturday.

According to CP Ranjit Singh Dhillon, raids are being carried out to capture two additional accomplices who have been discovered in this case. He said that inquiries are underway to determine the case’s forward and backward links.

At Police Station Civil Lines Amritsar, a case FIR no. 107 dated 26-06-2024 had been filed in accordance with sections 25 of the Arms Act and 394 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
