To accelerate the state’s development, the Punjab Cabinet, headed by CM Bhagwant Singh Mann, on Thursday approved the guidelines for the “Rangla Punjab Vikas Scheme.”
The decision was taken during a meeting of the Council of Ministers, chaired by CM Bhagwant at his official residence in the evening.
A spokesperson from the Chief Minister’s Office stated that the Rangla Punjab Vikas Scheme aims to address the daily developmental needs of people across districts. For the financial year 2025–26, a budget of ₹585 crore has been earmarked for this scheme. The funds will be managed by Deputy Commissioners and allocated based on inputs from MLAs, community organizations, citizen groups, and proactive individuals. All proposed works will be evaluated and sanctioned in line with the scheme’s guidelines.
The approvals will be granted by a District Level Committee led by the Deputy Commissioner, in consultation with the district’s Minister In-charge appointed by the Chief Minister. The Committee will ensure proper execution, monitoring, and timely completion of projects. The Deputy Commissioner will have the authority to grant both administrative and financial approvals.
