In a significant step toward enhancing healthcare services, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convener Arvind Kejriwal inaugurated the newly renovated Civil Hospital in Ludhiana on Tuesday.
Thanks to the dedicated efforts of the state government and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora, the hospital has undergone a remarkable transformation. This modernization reflects a strong commitment to delivering high-quality healthcare and improving public health infrastructure. The revamp aims to create a more efficient, hygienic, and welcoming environment for patients and visitors alike.
A range of improvements has been introduced to enhance patient care. A state-of-the-art modular Orthopedic Operation Theatre, built at a cost of nearly ₹1 crore, has been equipped with advanced surgical technology to facilitate complex procedures with greater precision and safety. Renovations have also been carried out in the Outpatient Department (OPD), Emergency Unit, and Inpatient Wards, including upgraded washrooms with anti-slip flooring and efficient drainage systems.
To improve hygiene and convenience, the hospital now has 500 new high-quality bed sheets and five advanced 80-litre water coolers strategically placed across the premises. New tiles have been installed on side-walls up to a height of five feet, enhancing both cleanliness and aesthetics. Extensive repairs have been made to restore the hospital’s structural integrity, including waterproofing terraces, refurbishing walls, and replacing deteriorated doors and windows.
After 12 years of being non-functional, two hospital lifts have been fully repaired and reinstated. All broken fans and lights have been replaced with energy-efficient alternatives, and high-mast lighting systems have been restored for better nighttime visibility. The hospital’s internal roads have been reconstructed, and high-quality paver blocks have been installed in designated parking areas to streamline vehicular movement.
A 5,000-square-foot covered waiting area has been built to provide comfort for patients and attendants, protecting them from harsh weather conditions. The hospital’s landscape has also been enhanced with a comprehensive horticulture program, adding greenery to the surroundings.
Security measures have been strengthened with a reconstructed boundary wall, a reinforced main gate, and a sturdy cattle trap at the entrance to prevent stray animal intrusion. Additionally, a rigorous rodent control protocol has been put in place to maintain a clean and pest-free environment.
This extensive renovation marks a major step in the Punjab government’s commitment to providing modern, accessible, and high-quality healthcare services to its people.
