Arvind Kejriwal Blames BJP and promises to reinstate DCW Contractual workers who were laid off.

Arvind Kejriwal, the leader of the AAP, charged that the BJP had fired DCW contractual employees. He also promised to reinstate them.

Arvind Kejriwal, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party, accused the BJP on Tuesday of stealing the jobs of hundreds of DCW contract workers prior to Diwali and promised to reinstate them.

The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) in an order earlier on Monday discontinued the services of all its contractual staff with immediate effect.

Kejriwal assured the affected workers that his party would fight to get their jobs reinstated.

In a post on X, the former Delhi chief minister stated, “I promise my sisters who were let go from DCW that I will do whatever it takes to get them their jobs back.”

Manish Sisodia, a senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former deputy chief minister of Delhi, criticized the BJP for firing the DCW’s contractual employees, claiming that this was a clear betrayal of the saffron party’s pledges to create jobs in its manifestos. “By taking people’s employment right before Diwali, the BJP has done something wrong. Although they promise to create jobs in their manifestos, they are displacing those who have been employed on contract for the past 30 years. “Now, how are these people going to celebrate Diwali?” he asked.

Sisodia said that his party supports the impacted workers and will take the required actions to assist them, saying, “The BJP is a party for snatching jobs and their talk about giving employment is a sham.”

The AAP said it “paradoxical” because the LG nominated by their Central government ended the DCW staff’s employment, despite the BJP’s pledge to regularize contractual workers after taking power in Delhi.

The BJP did not immediately respond to the accusations made by the AAP.

The Women and Child Development (WCD) Department’s April 29 directive, which was approved by the lieutenant governor, served as the foundation for the DCW’s decision to terminate the employment of all of its contractual staff.

Official sources claim that concerns regarding flaws in the hiring process led to the decision to fire the employees. According to them, 52 employees were working for the commission when the WCD terminated their employment in April of this year, despite the fact that 223 contractual positions had been created in the DCW.

According to sources, a committee constituted by the LG at the time issued a report in June 2017 suggesting that hiring contractual employees without approved positions and without following the proper procedures should not be permitted to continue.
