A student’s death at IIT Delhi has raised concerns over student welfare and support systems in educational institutions. Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal expressed deep sadness over the incident and called for a fair and time-bound investigation into the matter.

Kejriwal Seeks Fair Investigation

Reacting to the incident on Tuesday, Arvind Kejriwal said the student’s death was deeply painful and stressed that all aspects of the case should be examined through an impartial investigation. He also called for the concerns of students to be addressed properly.

According to the statement shared by Kejriwal, more than 65 IIT students have died by suicide over the past five years. He described the reported figure as a matter of serious concern and said it should prompt institutions to examine how students are supported during difficult periods.

Academic Excellence Should Go Beyond Rankings

Arvind Kejriwal said IITs are widely recognised for their academic excellence, and the country takes pride in their achievements. However, he argued that institutional success should not be judged only by rankings, grades and placement records.

He emphasised that student well-being should also remain an important part of the education system. According to him, students need an environment where they can openly communicate their concerns and seek help when facing difficult circumstances.
