How AMUL Dairy Plant Will Change Assam’s Future
Big things are happening in Assam! The state government has just approved a massive AMUL dairy plant, which will process 1 lakh liters of milk per day. This new plant will be located at the Institute of Farm Management Campus in Rani and is part of the state’s Advantage Assam 2.0 plan to improve infrastructure and support local businesses.
The AMUL dairy Plant is expected to cost around ₹75 crore to get started, with the potential to increase to ₹150 crore in later stages. What’s even better is that around 20,000 dairy farmers in Assam will benefit from this, giving them better access to markets and improving their income. This is going to be a game-changer for both the dairy industry and the local economy.
Making Food Affordable for Assam’s Families
But that’s not all—Assam’s government is also working on making food more affordable. Starting in October 2025, people under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) will be able to buy Masur Dal (lentils), sugar, and salt at lower prices. This will help families across Assam get essential food items at better rates, with the program expanding to all districts by November 2025. These efforts, along with the AMUL Dairy Plant, will provide crucial support to the community.
New Investments and Job Opportunities
On top of these initiatives, Assam is welcoming new private investments. The Cabinet has approved projects worth ₹2,457 crore, which are expected to create about 1,000 new jobs in the state. This will further boost the local economy and provide more opportunities for youth and workers in Assam.
And to top it all off, Assam is also increasing the honorarium for 1,300 ICT instructors under the Dr. Banikanta Kakati Computer Literacy Programme. They’ll now receive ₹20,000 per month and have job security until the age of 60.
These moves show that Assam is all in for growth and development. With the AMUL Dairy Plant it looks like the state is heading toward a brighter, more prosperous future for everyone.
