Anupam, who has been married to actor and politician Kirron Kher for over four decades, said the thought of not raising a child didn’t affect him much in his younger years. But after turning 60, he began to feel the absence more profoundly.
“When someone asked me if I feel a void of not watching a child grow up in front of me, I said yes, and it’s the truth,” Anupam admitted. “I didn’t feel it earlier, but now I do. I do a lot of work with children through my foundation. I used to host a children’s show called Say Na Something to Anupam Uncle. I love kids.”
The actor also revealed that his wife, Kirron, was unable to conceive after their marriage. “Kirron could not conceive, and when she did once, unfortunately, she had to undergo an abortion,” he said.
Anupam Kher and Kirron Kher’s relationship blossomed from a strong friendship. They were close for over a decade before tying the knot in 1985. At the time, Kirron was going through a rough patch in her first marriage to businessman Gautam Berry. She has a son, Sikander, from that marriage, who later took Anupam’s last name and became a part of the family.
