CM Nitish Kumar today transferred an amount of Rs. 1263.95 crore under the Social Security Pension Scheme to the bank accounts of more than 1 crore 13 lakh beneficiaries through DBT in a programme held at Sankalp, 1, Aney Marg.

During the programme, a short film on Social Security Pension Scheme was screened by the Social Welfare Department before the Chief Minister. In the program, Secretary of Social Welfare Department Mrs. Bandana Preyashi informed the Chief Minister that public representatives, district magistrates, beneficiaries and a large number of common people are connected with the program through video conferencing. The Social Welfare Department is fully committed to provide its timely benefits to all eligible social security pensioners as per the directions of the Chief Minister. The Chief Minister has already transferred the pension amount at the increased rate for the month of June and July 2025. The monthly pension amount for the month of August at the rate of Rs. 1100 per month has been paid through DBT today. In Social Security Pension Schemes, 1 lakh 23 thousand new beneficiaries have been approved as compared to last month. From June to August, the total number of pensioners has increased by 2.22 lakh.
It is to be noted that the amount has been transferred to the accounts of 6 social security pension beneficiaries today. The number of pensioners under the Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme is 35,38,296, to whom a total amount of Rs. 389.30 lakh 96 thousand has been transferred today. The number of pensioners under the Chief Minister’s Old Age Pension Scheme is 51,98,211, in whose account an amount of Rs 585 crore 86 lakh 97 thousand 900 has been transferred today. The number of pensioners under the Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme is 6,35,719, to whom an amount of Rs. 70 crore 31 lakh 93 thousand 100 has been transferred today. The number of pensioners under the Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme is 1,10,319, to whom an amount of Rs. 12 crore 13 lakh 79 thousand 700 has been transferred today. The number of pensioners under the Lakshmibai Social Security Pension Scheme is 8,81,680, in whose account an amount of Rs 97 crore 97 lakh 82 thousand 700 has been transferred today. The number of pensioners under the Bihar Disability Pension Scheme is 9,78,483, in whose account an amount of Rs. 108.33 lakh 2,300 crore has been transferred today. It signifies inclusive development and social justice.
During the programme, the Chief Minister said that the state government has increased the amount of pension from Rs 400 per month to Rs 1100 per month for the elderly, disabled and widows under the social security pension from June. We have run many schemes for the upliftment of all sections from the very beginning. We are constantly working for the welfare of the weaker sections of the society. Social security pension schemes are being run for the convenience of the elderly, disabled and widowed women. He said that special care should be taken that no eligible social pensioner is left out. Today, I am very happy that the pension amount of Rs. 1100 for the month of August has been transferred to the beneficiaries of the Social Security Pension Scheme. I congratulate you all.
