Barnala District Leads Punjab in Issuing UDID Cards for Persons with Disabilities.

UDID Serves as a Unified Identification Document for Accessing All Scheme Benefits.

The Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is actively working towards the welfare of Divyang persons in the state. In the issuance of Unique Disability ID (UDID) cards to facilitate access to government services, Barnala district has emerged as the top performer in Punjab.

Sharing this achievement, Social Security, Women, and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur stated that through collaborative efforts between the Department of Social Security, Women, and Child Development and the Health Department, over 70% of Divyang persons in Barnala district—totaling 9,766 individuals—have received UDID cards.

Dr. Baljit Kaur explained that the UDID card serves as a single identification document, enabling Divyang persons to access all government schemes and services provided by both the central and Punjab governments.

She highlighted that the UDID card is not just an identity document but also a key to availing various benefits, including pensions, skill training, employment opportunities, and medical assistance. It simplifies the process for Divyang persons to access government services efficiently.

Additionally, she announced that the Punjab Government has established a dedicated disability cell, serving as a single-window platform for Divyang persons to receive benefits under various schemes. She urged eligible individuals to apply for a UDID card by visiting Sewa Kendras, District Social Security Offices, or Civil Hospitals, ensuring they can fully benefit from the available government programs.
