BCCI announces Rs 7.5 crore reward for Ayush Mhatre-led Indian U19 World Cup champions after historic win over England.
India has extended its dominance in youth cricket by clinching a historic sixth U19 World Cup title. Led by captain Ayush Mhatre, the Indian team defeated England by a massive 100 runs in the final at Harare Sports Club, and the BCCI has announced a cash reward of Rs 7.5 crore for the players, support staff, and selectors.
Unlike the ICC, which does not provide prize money for the tournament, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided to recognize the remarkable achievement of the young champions. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia praised the team, saying, “We are extremely proud of our U19 champions. Their historic win brings pride to the nation and sets an inspiring example for our senior teams.”

Vaibhav Suryavanshi Shines in Final
The final was marked by a spectacular batting display from India. Vaibhav Suryavanshi smashed a phenomenal 175 off 80 balls, setting a new record for the highest individual score in a U19 World Cup final. Captain Ayush Mhatre contributed a solid 53, while Abhigyan Kundu (40) and Kanishk Chouhan’s unbeaten 37 off 20 balls helped India post a daunting total of 411/9 in 50 overs.
The bowlers complemented the batting performance with disciplined spells, consistently striking at key moments. Despite a determined effort from England, India’s superior fielding and strategic approach ensured a comprehensive 100-run victory.
BCCI and Officials Applaud Young Champions
BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla lauded the team’s performance, highlighting the efforts of India’s youth development system. “This victory reflects the long-term planning and talent nurturing by BCCI. The players’ dedication and skill have paid off, and Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s innings was truly spectacular,” Shukla added.
The BCCI’s Rs 7.5 crore reward not only acknowledges the players’ achievements but also motivates young cricketers across India. With this win, India continues to cement its position as a powerhouse in age-group cricket, showcasing a strong pipeline of talent for the future of Indian cricket.
