The BCCI has released an updated schedule for Team India’s international home season, along with changes to the upcoming South Africa A tour later this year. A major alteration includes shifting the first Test match against South Africa in November from New Delhi to Kolkata.
In its official statement, the BCCI announced, “The Senior Men’s Team will take on West Indies and South Africa in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is on home soil. The IDFC First Bank Test series against the West Indies will kick off on October 2, 2025, in Ahmedabad. The second Test, which was earlier scheduled to be played in Kolkata, will now take place at New Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium. Meanwhile, the opening Test against South Africa, set to begin on November 14, 2025, has been moved from New Delhi to Kolkata’s Eden Gardens.”
Due to Delhi’s typically worsening air quality in the winter months—particularly in November and December—this may have played a role in BCCI’s decision to shift the match venue.
What other changes has the BCCI announced?
In addition to the Test venue swaps involving South Africa and the West Indies, the BCCI has also revised the schedule for the Indian women’s ODI series against Australia. Ongoing pitch and outfield renovation at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium prompted the relocation of the series. Now, the first two ODIs will be held at the New PCA Stadium in New Chandigarh, while the final match will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Moreover, the South Africa Men’s A team is set to tour India for multi-day and one-day matches starting October 30, 2025. While Bengaluru will still host two of the fixtures as planned, the third match has been shifted to the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot.
In other related updates, Team India is gearing up to play their first Test series under the captaincy of Shubman Gill, starting later this month in England.
