The BCCI’s Centre of Excellence is set for a major revamp as the contracts of several coaches, including bowling coach Troy Cooley, have ended. Cooley, who joined the NCA in late 2021, completed his three-year tenure and was serving on a one-year extension before his departure. Reports suggest former India pacer VRV Singh may replace him.
With multiple vacancies, the BCCI has invited applications for three full-time coaching positions at the Bengaluru facility, covering bowling, batting, and sports science & medicine. The head of the medical team role is also open following Nitin Patel’s resignation in March 2025 after three years of service.
PTI reports indicate that VVS Laxman’s tenure as head of the Centre of Excellence will conclude at the end of 2025, with the former India batter unlikely to seek an extension. The board has specified that applicants for the batting and bowling coach roles must be former First-Class or international cricketers holding a BCCI Level-2 or Level-3 coaching certificate, with a minimum of five years’ coaching experience at state or elite youth level.
The last date to apply for these positions is August 20. According to the BCCI, these appointments are crucial for advancing India’s cricketing structure across coaching, education, and sports science.
