JDU senior leader KC Tyagi confirms Nitish Kumar will remain NDA’s CM face after Bihar Election 2025, dismissing opposition claims of BJP sidelining him. NDA to contest with equal seat-sharing.
As the 2025 Bihar Elections draw near, political speculation is heating up about who will assume the chief minister’s chair after the polls. In a significant development, senior Janata Dal (United) leader and close aide of CM Nitish Kumar, KC Tyagi, has asserted that Nitish Kumar will continue as Chief Minister if the NDA secures victory.
Tyagi claimed that all top BJP leaders have unanimously agreed to fight the elections under Nitish Kumar’s leadership, and he will be the chief ministerial face of the NDA post-elections. “The BJP has publicly affirmed its support for Nitish Kumar as the face of the alliance,” he stated.
NDA United Under Nitish Kumar’s Leadership
The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar includes the BJP, JD(U), Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Upendra Kushwaha’s Rashtriya Lok Janata Dal, and Jitan Ram Manjhi’s HAM(S). Together, the alliance is contesting the elections with a common goal—to retain power under Nitish Kumar’s stewardship.
Tyagi’s statement comes amid opposition claims that Nitish Kumar may not be the NDA’s CM face after the polls. Several opposition leaders have alleged that the BJP could sideline Kumar post-elections.

Upendra Kushwaha’s “Discontent” Resolved
On questions about Upendra Kushwaha’s alleged displeasure over seat-sharing, KC Tyagi clarified that the matter has been resolved. “Kushwaha himself said that everything is fine now. After his meeting with Home Minister Amit Shah, he told the media he is no longer upset,” Tyagi said.
Reports had earlier suggested that Kushwaha was unhappy with certain seats being allocated to Chirag Paswan’s party. However, sources now confirm that Kushwaha has been offered an MLC seat in Bihar and is likely to be re-nominated to the Rajya Sabha, ending the speculation of a rift within the NDA.
Equal Seat-Sharing Between BJP and JD(U)
As part of the NDA’s internal seat-sharing formula, both JD(U) and BJP are contesting 101 seats each, highlighting their “twin brothers” approach—no big brother, no small brother. This equal distribution is being seen as a strategic move to project unity and balance within the alliance.
Political analysts in Bihar are interpreting this arrangement as a subtle message to voters: BJP and JD(U) are equal partners, committed to a common vision of governance.
