Bihar weather: The states of Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Gangetic West Bengal are under a red heatwave alert.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red heatwave advisory for Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Gangetic West Bengal, indicating that severe heatwave conditions are expected in various regions of the country on Monday. Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana are among the northeastern states that have received a yellow alert from the weather service

The IMD stated in its bulletin dated April 28 that “Heat Wave to severe heatwave conditions very likely to prevail in many places over Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha and Bihar, in some parts over Jharkhand during next four days till 1 May and then Heat Wave to severe heatwave conditions likely at isolated places over these areas on 2 May.”

“Heat Wave to severe heat wave conditions likely at isolated places over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal on 28 April, and heat wave conditions in isolated pockets for the next three days until 1 May,” the statement continued.

Bihar weather: Heatwave conditions are predicted to be present over Telangana from April 29 to May 1, Konkan from April 29, and East Uttar Pradesh from April 28 to April 30. This information comes from the weather department.

Up till May 2, West Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, Kerala, Mahe, and coastal Karnataka may have hot and muggy weather.

Rainfall alert

The IMD predicts that Monday will likely bring heavy to moderate rains to Northwest India.

Bihar weather: The IMD stated that on April 29 and 30, “light to moderate rainfall or snowfall accompanied with thunderstorms and lightning is likely over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.”

Additionally, there is a chance of isolated, intense rainfall in a few areas of Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad. Additionally, the IMD stated that hailstorms could potentially occur across Himachal Pradesh.

The meteorological service said, “On April 29, isolated to scattered rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds is very likely over Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, and Uttar Pradesh.”
