Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh: Had Mid-Day-Meal with school students

Cabinet Minister for Public Works and Power, Punjab, Harbhajan Singh, has stated that the Punjab Government is committed to completing the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) projects. For this, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has held meetings at his level also and all issues will be resolved soon. He dismissed the notion that there is a problem with land acquisition in the state. He assured that the relevant lands will be acquired and handed over to NHAI soon.

Today, he made a surprise visit to Government Senior Secondary Smart School Janer, Government Primary School Patti Roopa and Government Primary School Moga-1. He had a Mid Day Meal with school students. On this occasion, MLA Dr. Amandeep Kaur Arora, MLA Amritpal Singh Sukhanand, MLA Manjeet Singh Bilaspur, MLA Davinderjit Singh Laddi Dhos, Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal, and others were present.

While talking to journalists, Harbhajan Singh said that the Punjab Government’s top priority is to bring reforms in the education sector. Emphasis is being laid on strengthening the basic infrastructure of education for the better future of the state. He said that three new schools have been built in Moga city alone. These schools were in a very poor condition earlier. But due to the farsighted thinking of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, an effort is being made to revamp every school. He said that the Punjab Government wants the teachers of the state’s schools to provide better education to the children, which is why the principals of government schools are being sent for training in other countries. If the school heads are good, then the school results will also be good.

He said that education is being made employment-oriented. Children are being encouraged towards technical education. That’s why Schools of Eminence are being opened in the state. In these schools, the interests of bright children are being explored and they are being provided with suitable education so that they can choose their field/ profession according to their interest. He said that the purpose of his visit is to know the needs of the school and to make efforts to fulfill them. He expressed satisfaction with the performance of the schools.
