Cabinet Minister : Under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government is focused on ensuring sufficient canal water for agricultural irrigation throughout the state. This was emphasized by Punjab Cabinet Minister for Social Security, Women, and Child Development, Dr. Baljit Kaur, during the inauguration of the reconstruction and concretization of irrigation channels worth approximately ₹4.80 crore in various villages within the Malout constituency, including Ghumiaran Khera, Jandwala, Ballamgarh, Lakhewali, Maur, Fakarsar, and Theri.
Addressing the gathering of farmers, Cabinet Minister Dr. Kaur highlighted that the development promises made to the people of the constituency are being fulfilled step by step with dedication.
During her visit, Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur launched the construction of irrigation channels in the village of Jandwala, near the Malout Rajbaha, with a concretization project valued at ₹66.32 lakh. She also inaugurated the concretization of irrigation channels in Ghumiaran Khera, alongside the Lalbai Rajbaha, with an investment of ₹77.09 lakh. These projects are aimed at ensuring a reliable supply of canal water to the tail-end agricultural lands.
Additionally, she inaugurated the concretization of irrigation channels in Lakhewali (₹57.05 lakh), Ballamgarh (₹54.63 lakh), and Maur (₹51.73 lakh).
Cabinet Minister also laid the foundation stones for new irrigation channel projects in Fakarsar (₹116.22 lakh) and Theri (₹57.85 lakh), both aimed at enhancing irrigation efficiency.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Market Committee Malout Chairman Jashan Brar, Private Secretaries Arshdeep Singh Sidhu and Sinderpal Singh, Sarpanch Nirmal Singh, Members Veer Singh, Dheer Singh, Raja Singh, Block President Kulwinder Brar, and many other prominent figures.
