Cabinet Ministers Aman Arora : In a significant step towards curbing cross-border drug smuggling and narco-terrorism, the Punjab Government conducted a trial of advanced anti-drone technology on Wednesday at Naushera Dhalla village, near the Indo-Pak border in Tarn Taran district. The trial, part of the ongoing anti-drug campaign “Yudh Nashian Virudh,” took place in the Sarai Amanat Khan area, a known hotspot for drone activity and smuggling over the past two years, reinforcing Punjab’s defence strategy.
Punjab Cabinet Ministers Aman Arora and Aam Aadmi Party State President Aman Arora, along with Jails Minister S. Laljit Singh Bhullar and senior Punjab Police officials, attended the demonstration. This trial follows earlier tests held on March 4 and 5, 2025, in SAS Nagar, Mohali.
Speaking to the media, Cabinet Ministers Aman Arora highlighted that the objective was to evaluate advanced anti-drone systems capable of countering the rising threat of drone-assisted smuggling of weapons, explosives, and narcotics. He stressed that the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led government is actively working to eliminate the drug menace, a crisis that previous administrations failed to address. “For years, Punjab suffered due to rampant drug trade while past governments ignored the issue. Under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s leadership, we are taking concrete measures to eradicate this problem,” he asserted.
The anti-drone technology showcased by a private company included detection, identification, and neutralisation features, forming part of a broader security initiative. These systems are expected to enhance law enforcement’s ability to intercept illegal cross-border activities.
The trial was conducted under real-world conditions to test the efficiency of the technology in a border environment.Cabinet Ministers Aman Arora noted that while the Border Security Force (BSF) is primarily responsible for securing the international border, the Punjab Government is taking proactive steps to support these efforts.
He also invited global firms specializing in anti-drone technology to demonstrate their solutions in Punjab, as the government aims to procure the best available technology to tackle cross-border smuggling and narco-terrorism effectively.
