Chaitra Navratri, as the name suggests, is celebrated over 9 days and each day is dedicated to 9 different forms of Maa Durga. During this time, Durga Mata is said to descend from heaven and reside with the devotees. Therefore, it is considered the most profitable phase.

Meaning of Ghatasthapana Muhurat
The Ghatasthapana ceremony, performed on the third day of Pratipada’s is considered to be the most favourable or Shubh Muhurat. If you are unable to meet this deadline for any reason, you can perform pooja on Abhijit Muhurat.
This Chaitra Navratri 2024 Puja Vidhi should be performed with appropriate muhurat as it aims to invoke Goddess Shakti. Therefore, in order not to anger Goddess Shakti, it is forbidden to perform it during Amavasya or at night.
Abhijit Muhurat is an auspicious time in the middle of the day and lasts about 51 minutes. It acts as a powerful time to banish many Doshas and is believed to be the most beneficial Muhurat for starting auspicious activities in life. Although Chitra Nakshatra and Vaidhriti Yoga have positive aspects, they are considered inauspicious for performing Ghatasthapana Vidhi. Furthermore, the afternoon hours are highly preferred for performing this ceremony during the ruling of Pratipada.

History Of Chaitra Navratri
According to Hindu scriptures, Lord Shiva allowed Goddess Durga to visit her parents’ house and stay there for nine days. Durga is believed to have killed the demon Mahishasura during these nine days, symbolizing the victory of good over evil. Devotees believe that worshiping Goddess Durga gives strength to the soul. From that day, Navratri festival was celebrated with great enthusiasm.
Ghatasthapana – Chaitra Navratri 2024 Puja Vidhi
Chaitra Navratri 2024: Collect puja items like pure earth, wide mouthed earthen pot, ‘Sapta Dhanya’’ or seven different grains, small brass vessel or Kalash, sacred thread, fragrance or perfume, coins, betel nuts, mango leaves, Akshata, unpeeled coconut, a red cloth, Durva grass, and marigold flowers.
- Before worshiping Maa Durga, prepare the Kalash by putting a layer of earth at the bottom of an earthen pot. Place the eyes under the ground. Continue in this way until the pot is filled to the brim with layers of soil.
- Pour some water in a Kalash or brass vessel and add incense, betel nut, coarse grass, Akshata and some coins.
- Keep 5 to 6 mango leaves on the opening of the brass pot and seal it.
- Tie the sacred thread to the red cloth containing the unpeeled coconut. Then place this on the top of the Kalash.
- Finally place this copper pot on the clay pot. Now the Puja setup is done, and you can invoke Goddess Durga in it.
